Lahaina Maui is the most known city on the island and is the most popular day destination on the island, after Haleakala. Old whaling ships, 19th century building, dining, shopping and fun seem to be around every corner in Lahaina. Here is a small overview of the town and what to see and do.
A 30 to 45 minute drive to the north of Wailea is the historic whaling town of Lahaina. Most, if not all visitors to the island of Maui will, at some point visit this window into old Maui and spend a day wandering the small, narrow streets window shopping or sipping Mai Tai's next to the pacific. If you find yourself with the dreaded Resort or condo fever and need to get out then this should be your destination. Lahiana offers the perfect balance of local flavor, touristy things to see and do and great dining and shopping options that will put even the most conservative folks into fun mode. |

With the Brig Carthaginian II, the Pioneer Inn, the Cannery and Front Street all calling Lahaina home, it is easy to spend a day wandering around this 19th century whaling town. If you are going to stop by and spend some time wandering around Lahaina here are a couple of tips for you.
1. Parking is, most of the time a nightmare, especially on weekends. If you come in on one of the streets to the south of the main entrance you can find some good parking opportunities which allow you to get in and get out without the traffic nightmare most seem content in experiencing. 2. Activities and attraction tickets. There is an Expedia booth close by the big banyan tree in the center of town where you can get activity and attraction tickets. This site offers these types of activities too, and I have teamed up with a local company to help in keeping your money in the community, not sending it back to the mainland so please support your local Maui business' and this site by shopping online. 3. Dining. There are some great places to dine, and a favorite of mine is Kimo's. Owned by the people who brought you Duke's Waikiki, Kimo's has what could be called the best view in Lahaina, as well as great food and cold beer and drinks. |

The Marriott Wailea makes enjoying on of the many south Maui sunsets just steps away.
Got Golf? The Renaissance Wailea offers great golf in addition to it's wonderful beach.
This is "the" place to be in Wailea! The Grand Wailea sets the standard that all others follow.
